My very intelligent and hard-working husband got this boat running. We got to go out on it and enjoy the lake. This was something we got to do every weekend up until a few years ago. We miss boating something dreadful. So, this was a wonderful chance to see the lake again and feel like a family... on the lake. :-)


Even Taylor got to drive. She doesn't remember much about growing up on the lake, but it's in her genes. She is a natural.

Sadly, after we enjoyed our time on the boat, the boat decided not to start. Another problem. Thankfully we were back on shore and the boat was already at the dock. Tom was so disappointed. I felt so bad for him.
We spent a lot of time on shore. The kids collected shells and we found some really cool fossils. We decided to make a picture with our shells. We should have realized sooner that the sun block wasn't working very well for Daniel. Poor little guy got a pretty burnt back.
If you look closely, you can see a couple of exoskeletons left behind on this rock. I believe they were Mayflies. There are a lot out there during the warm months.

We observed several swallows and possibly chimney swifts. It's difficult to catch their markings when they're always in action. We haven't gotten good enough at identifying birds to know their flight patterns and shape. We also got to see a few cranes and Malards.

All in all, it was a fun and relaxing day. I'm thankful that we got to come that day.
