In the meantime, there's a comet out there! Check it out.

If you can find Saturn (in the southeast), faintly to the lower right of Saturn, you should be able to spot the comet, especially if you are outside of suburbia!

I'm up very late so that I could try to observe the comet through our "light polluted" skies of the city. I did finally find it. It's very faint. Have you tried looking at the planets through binoculars? It's really cool!
