Happy New Year! We had a wonderful day. We traditionally spend the night at my mom's house on New Year's Eve. When they lived in Adkins, we were able to do fireworks. Now that they're in the city, we just watch the countdown on TV. We always work a puzzle which we're normally able to accomplish by the next day. This time, it was much more difficult and it's not complete yet!

This sweet Mockingbird greeted me on the morning of the new year. He put on a nice little show for me and I even had my camera! He has a pecan shell in his mouth here. He would pick it up and drop it on the ground over and over. Oh sure, he was looking for a yummy buggy snack!

Later that morning, Dad had a great idea. Let's hang swings in the trees for the kids! Oh boy, they had so much fun making swings and trying them out.
Taylor's on the swing here while Bridget waits for one of her own.
Double swing anyone? Oh yes, that's the boat yard in the background.
Dad runs a boat repair business.
Here's a climbing rope. Hunter (my nephew) was having a hard time understanding why this was supposed to be fun. He couldn't figure that thing out.

Bridget here...
Can you hear the cackling? That one can go high! This one's a little easier.
Ah yes, and Mom's working on a wonderful meal! Check out the desert.
Do I smell Pineapple Upside-down cake? Mmmmm...
Speaking of Mom, here are some specimens from her garden.
Pansies are Taylor's favorite flower after the blue bonnet.

Red cabbage? Those make a beautiful decorative plant during the winter.

Here's some more family. That's Beverly Lynch or Grandma Beverly standing at the fence.
Here's another Lynch... Mom's "little" brother, Uncle Johnny. This man used to have to duck to get into the door at Mom's old house. This is also Bridget's daddy.
That's it for us. Hope you had just as fun a day for the new year.
Nature studies will start up again soon!
